Documentary

Project Three

(Lawrence House)

(Theatre)

This documentary is a more historical and educational approach, where I attempted to create a sophisticated and informational documentary with facts. I really wanted to speak to an expert of something for this project, and I was lucky enough to get in touch with Donna Powers, who put together the scrapbook for the Lawrence Family. She was very helpful and was wonderful to interview.

This documentary is a more personal and vulnerable film, with several interviews from my peers. I let them all open up as much as they wanted and speak about the most important things about theatre, and the arts program at our school. Each person had something to say about why drama was unique to them.

Rough Work

Editing & Filming Process

For the Theatre documentary, I was able to use the stage lights in the drama room, and create a colour atmosphere that I felt fit the mood of the documentary. I decided on blue lights for the interviews, and the b-roll because the mood of the documentary, although positive, felt very sincere and vulnerable. I thought blue captured that effectively. It turned out super beautiful in post.
